About the role

Sentry Equipment is a 100% employee-owned custom job shop seeking a Machinist to join their skilled team. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on machining work, takes pride in precision, and values working safely as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate manual and CNC machines for a wide variety of custom machining work
  • Plan and select feeds, speeds, tooling, workholding, and cutting sequences
  • Machine parts with close tolerances and quality finish requirements
  • Work from drawings, specifications, and sketches
  • Use precision measuring instruments to inspect your own work
  • Edit feeds and speeds and load existing CNC programs
  • Grind tools, including form tools, and recommend tooling improvements
  • Assist other machinists and operators as needed
  • Safely handle materials, including lifting up to 50 lbs. and operating cranes
  • Follow all safety requirements and demonstrate safe work practices

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • At least 4 years of machine shop experience (stainless steel experience preferred)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read complex blueprints
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments
  • Solid shop math skills (fractions, decimals, conversions)
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP)
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and quality-focused
  • Team-first mindset with a strong ownership mentality
