About the role
Sentry Equipment is a 100% employee-owned custom job shop seeking a Machinist to join their skilled team. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on machining work, takes pride in precision, and values working safely as part of a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, and operate manual and CNC machines for a wide variety of custom machining work
- Plan and select feeds, speeds, tooling, workholding, and cutting sequences
- Machine parts with close tolerances and quality finish requirements
- Work from drawings, specifications, and sketches
- Use precision measuring instruments to inspect your own work
- Edit feeds and speeds and load existing CNC programs
- Grind tools, including form tools, and recommend tooling improvements
- Assist other machinists and operators as needed
- Safely handle materials, including lifting up to 50 lbs. and operating cranes
- Follow all safety requirements and demonstrate safe work practices
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- At least 4 years of machine shop experience (stainless steel experience preferred)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read complex blueprints
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Solid shop math skills (fractions, decimals, conversions)
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP)
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and quality-focused
- Team-first mindset with a strong ownership mentality
Qualifications
