Machinist

About the role

Perform all functions necessary for the successful operation of assigned machines, including set-ups, to assure efficiency and productivity in producing a high quality product. Work is on 2nd or 3rd shift.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of assigned machines in the Department.
• Efficiently make set-ups and tooling adjustments as required on assigned machines.
• Diagnose and document problems for evaluation by set-up and engineering personnel.
• Use mics; hand-held and/or automatic gauging equipment.
• Read and understand manufacturing routings.
• Record all data necessary to maintain the Data Collection requirements.
• Ensure the quality of the product produced through visual inspection, tape measurement, micrometer measurements, and monitoring gauges during processing of material.
• Clean and maintain tooling and machine in good condition.
• Perform general housekeeping of work area.
• Maintain safe working conditions and conduct oneself in such a manner as to not endanger oneself or fellow employees.
• Keep Supervisor informed of work-related problems and the progress of work assignments.
• Follow written departmental procedures and be responsible for all company tools assigned to their area.
• Train and direct less skilled personnel in the department.

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Skilled in the operations of power equipment.
• Ability to read, write, and compute math calculations.
• Ability to use gauge equipment (micrometers, ruler, etc.).
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Ability to lift 80 lbs., push/pull 200 lbs., bend, stand, walk, climb, twist, and have good vision.
• At least two (2) years experience in Formed Products Department as a Machine Operator or equivalent experience.
• Good work record.
