About the role
Responsible for setting up and operating various machine tools to produce precision parts. Duties include aligning and securing fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines, calculating dimensions and tolerances, and monitoring the machining process.
Responsibilities
- Selects appropriate tools, machines, and materials for work.
- Consults with engineering and production personnel regarding product information.
- Calculates dimensions and tolerances using mathematical knowledge.
- Operates and adjusts machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
- Maintains machine tools in proper operational condition.
- Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Evaluates machining procedures and recommends changes for improved efficiency.
- Maintains quality control by measuring, examining, or testing completed units.
- Communicates with engineers and production personnel to resolve machining or assembly problems.
Requirements
- Knowledge of design techniques, mathematics, and production processes.
- Ability to operate a full range of machine tool equipment such as lathes, grinders, mill and drill presses.
- Ability to make complex setups and maintain close tolerances.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of machine shop/manufacturing experience.
