About the role
Fabricate and repair components in a shop environment. Contribute to a positive work environment and promote the vision, mission, and values of Blanchard Machinery Company. Complete all job responsibilities in a safe manner and champion a safe and healthy work environment.
Responsibilities
- Use stationary boring equipment and machine tools, as well as multiple other types of tooling, to meet specific job needs.
- Maintain and operate a variety of machining equipment, including services such as pipe beveling, cutting, line boring, and flange facing.
- Assemble components with power and hand tools.
- Re-machine parts to repair and maintain critical dimensions.
- Fabricate and modify defective parts as needed.
- Inspect completed work to ensure structural soundness, proper fit, dimensions, compliance, and tolerance levels.
- Clean and maintain portable machining and welding equipment.
- Perform welding and cutting of all types.
- Use N.D.T (Magnetic particle and die penetrant) as preferred.
- Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and earthmoving equipment (preferred).
- Read prints and use dimensions/samples to repair or assemble metal parts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- 3+ years of welding/fabricating experience, preferably in a heavy equipment application/environment.
- General understanding of mechanical assemblies.
- Knowledgeable in gearing, bearings, seals, bushings, and hydraulics (preferred).
- Proficient in welding and cutting of all types.
- Must own basic tools for disassembly/assembly of machines/components.
- Ability to read prints and interpret dimensions.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to set priorities and handle stress in a fast-paced industry with deadlines.
- Enthusiastic, hardworking, and able to complete work with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Working Conditions
- Work primarily inside a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
- Shift work and/or weekends may be required.
- Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, and lifting varied weights.
- Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines to maintain and repair equipment.
- Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
