Machinist

Atlas is currently seeking an Inside/Outside Machinist for a client located in Mobile, AL. The role involves working within a team to achieve maximum production, standards, and quality while maintaining a positive and motivated environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely rig equipment following all OSHA requirements
• Use CNC lathe, milling machine, and line boring machine
• Inspect work, identify potential problems, and initiate corrective actions
• Increase awareness of Quality procedures within the department
• Ensure adherence to correct work procedures
• Perform as a productive team member meeting daily goals set by the supervisor
• Contribute toward innovation and productivity improvements
• Assist in waste elimination (e.g., materials, consumables)
• Assist supervisor in maintaining department equipment and its maintenance
• Ensure work area is clean, and all equipment and tools are stowed safely

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required
• 18 years or older at time of application
• Able to provide proof of US Person status (permanent resident or citizen)
• No felony convictions of violent crimes within five years
• No felony convictions of drug crimes within three years
• 2-year minimum work experience using CNC lathe, milling machine, and line boring machine
• Willing to submit to a drug screen and background check
• Working knowledge of machining procedures, good mechanical aptitude, and ability to follow directions
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings
• Ability to safely operate fixed and non-fixed machinery
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and measurements using metric units
• Proven problem-solving abilities
• Strong work ethic; must report to the work site daily and on time

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear
• Occasionally required to sit
• Ability to turn head from side to side and about the vertical axis
• Ability to turn body at the waist from side to side and about the vertical axis
• Lift/push/pull 50–75 lbs on an occasional basis
• Lift/push/pull up to 20 lbs on a frequent basis
• Ability to climb in a safe manner

Pay

Starting pay is $34–$38 per hour, depending on experience, with an extra incentive for field machining.
