Machinist Apprentice

About the role

The position involves setting up and operating various machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments from metal. It includes fabricating, modifying, or repairing mechanical instruments and maintaining industrial machines.

Responsibilities

• Machinist apprentice sets up CNC and manual machine(s)
• Inspects and/or grinds parts to design specifications
• Completes 8,000 hour training program to achieve Journeyman Machinist status
• May fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or industrial machines
• Applies knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• NIMS level I credentials or equivalent basic machining knowledge
• Self-motivated and able to work well in a team environment
• Willingness to learn

Qualifications

• Technical Associates Degree highly preferred
