Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Machinist – Level 3 or Level 4 to work with our Case Value Stream Operations team at our facility in Clearfield, UT. As a Machinist in our Case Center of Excellence, you will work on and inspect high-value rocket motor case manufacturing activities utilizing machining centers and hand operations.

Responsibilities

  • Machine parts per specification by setting up and operating CNC equipment.
  • Ensure quality of the product by performing both in-process and final part inspections.
  • Maintain care and upkeep of equipment, assuring tooling and materials readiness.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Provide training to others in all aspects of CNC equipment setup, operation, and maintenance.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.
  • Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.
  • Fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment and determine material, parts, and equipment required.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Resolve unforeseen, unique issues as they arise in machining parts.

Schedule

This is a B-Shift, weekday, night shift position with 10-hour shifts from Monday to Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Overtime is worked as necessary.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications for Level 3

  • 4+ years of CNC 3-5 axis machining experience.
  • Extensive experience running manual machines and performing set-ups.
  • Experience with Fanuc Controller preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications (English).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience in following written set-up instructions and/or performing unique set-ups.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve unforeseen, unique issues in machining parts.
  • Experience in complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations related to tolerances, dimensions, tooling, and feeds and speeds.
  • Understanding and ability to work with knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and disciplines.

Basic Qualifications for Level 4

  • 6+ years of CNC 3-5 axis machining experience.
  • Extensive experience running manual machines and performing set-ups.
  • Experience with Fanuc Controller preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications (English).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Machinist Certification from an accredited Trade School.

Pay

Primary Level (Level 3) Salary Range: $52,700.00 - $87,900.00

Secondary Level (Level 4) Salary Range: $62,700.00 - $104,500.00

The above salary ranges represent general guidelines. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
