Responsibilities
- Perform set-up and operation of all manual machines
- Create minor CNC programs and edit various CNC programs (Mills, Lathes, & Grinders)
- Create set-ups and machine parts to meet or exceed design specifications
- Read and interpret schematics and drawings, including geometric dimensioning & tolerancing
- Communicate with Engineers as necessary
- Produce quality documentation, including non-conformance reporting
- Adjust machine tools to meet specifications, including cutter compensation and tool diameter differences
- Record proper set-up documentation
- Inspect in-process product and ensure it meets requirements
- Document measurements on inspection sheets, when required
Requirements
- Safety-first mindset: prioritize safety, assess situations before proceeding, keep work area clean and hazard-free, use provided guarding, and perform pre-work checks
- Experience inspecting parts and materials to ensure they are free from quality defects
- Ability to accurately use and ensure calibration of measuring tools including Calipers, Bore Gauges, Micrometers, Thread gauge, Depth Gauge, Height Gauges, Gage Blocks, Pin Gages, and Hardness Testers
- Read and interpret 2-d detail prints
- Moderate experience running jobs in work centers such as lathes, mills, grinders, or other equipment
- Strong working knowledge of conventional machining techniques including tool use, speeds and feeds
- Experience machining different materials including various grades of steel, aluminum, brass, PVC, UHMW, etc.
- Strong working knowledge using traditional inspection equipment such as height gages, dial indicators, micrometers, and calipers
- 3–10 years of experience in a machine shop position
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or relevant job-specific experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective use of Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)
Preferred Key Requirements
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
- Experience with Mazak machine tools and Mazatrol
- Inspection experience
- Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) experience
- Tire/rubber industry experience
- CAM software experience, including SolidCAM
Work Environment & Culture
