About the role

Northrop Grumman’s Armament Systems Business Unit in Mesa, AZ is seeking a Machinist 2 to fabricate components and samples that meet design specifications on second shift (M–Th, 4×10, 3:00 PM–1:30 AM). The role contributes to productivity and cost-reduction initiatives while working with limited guidance in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate conventional and/or numerically controlled machining centers, lathes, and surface grinders on semi-complex jobs.
• Fabricate components and samples to print using blueprints, sketches, planning sheets, verbal instructions, and engineering data.
• Perform manual and CNC operations: turning, milling, forming, drilling, tapping, and reaming; rework parts as needed.
• Adjust feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to produce quality parts.
• Deburr precision and complex machined parts with hand and power tools per semi-complex blueprints.
• Inspect parts for conformance using gages, calipers, micrometers, and visual checks for burrs or damaged surfaces.
• Maintain equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability.
• Implement lean initiatives by identifying and suggesting improvements; apply lean tools in the work area.
• Observe all company policies and safety rules; maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Collaborate with team members in problem solving.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Minimum 2 years experience on CNC lathes and mills in a machining environment.
• Ability to follow written, electronic, and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Pay

Base salary range: $44,400 – $74,000 per year. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses based on individual and company performance.
