About the role

A well-established manufacturer in the Grandview, Missouri area is seeking an experienced Machining Supervisor to lead its second-shift machining operation. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for directing machinists and setup technicians, maintaining production performance, and resolving technical issues in a fast-paced machine shop.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop machinists, setup technicians, and machine operators
  • Ensure production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and department KPIs are met
  • Support the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and programming of CNC and manual machining equipment
  • Help develop and troubleshoot CNC programs across multiple machine platforms
  • Monitor OEE, cycle time, labor efficiency, finished-product quality, and on-time production
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
  • Partner with CNC and Design Engineering to resolve manufacturing and product-design issues
  • Create and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and machine shop procedures
  • Review employee time and attendance and submit accurate payroll information
  • Maintain proper housekeeping, scrap segregation, and waste-handling practices
  • Address employee performance concerns and enforce company policies when necessary

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience working in a metal machine shop
  • At least five years of machining supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of manual and CNC machining practices
  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment
  • General CNC programming capability across multiple platforms
  • Experience with horizontal mills, vertical mills, sub-spindle lathes, or similar equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Proven ability to train and develop machinists and setup personnel
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience implementing process changes
