About the role
Williams International is seeking several apprentices to join their team starting September 2026. The apprenticeship program includes a pre-apprenticeship phase lasting three months, followed by a two-year CNC Machining apprenticeship program.
Responsibilities
- Complete a pre-apprenticeship program focusing on safety, basic blue-print reading, basic machining on conventional lathes and mills, measurements, and parts verification.
- Register with the Department of Labor under a CNC Machining apprenticeship program.
- Participate in on-the-job training and instructor-led courses through Oakland Community College.
- Receive training on CNC lathes, CNC mills, and advanced machining techniques.
- After successful completion, transition to an off-shift position as a permanent full-time employee.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Previous exposure to a machining curriculum, such as High School or Community College Machining Curriculum
- Familiarity with CNC setup and operation (preferred but not required)
- Comfortable reading and interpreting engineering drawings or set-up sheets
- Solid mechanical aptitude and basic math skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 60 pounds, have a grip strength of at least 50 pounds, and reach above the shoulder (65 inches)
- U.S. Citizenship status required
Requirements
- Candidates must be able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
