Position Location

This position is located onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD.

Job Overview

The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic under the direction of the Facility Supervisor repairs machinery and mechanical equipment primarily used for classified material conversion (CMC) purposes. Duties include examining machines, diagnosing issues, dismantling/replacing parts, and preparing specifications for repairs.

Responsibilities

• Monitors, maintains, and repairs classified material conversion machinery.
• Examines machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble, dismantles or partly dismantles machines, performs repairs using hand tools, and makes necessary adjustments for operation.
• Reads, interprets, and adjusts meters and gauges to ensure plant equipment and processes are working properly.
• Replaces broken or defective parts with items from stock or orders replacements from a machine shop.
• Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
• Plans, organizes work, and meets all deadlines.
• Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day.
• Responds to emergency site maintenance as required.
• Performs on-call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
• Collaborates with other trades and warehouse personnel to identify proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for requisitions.
• Helps perform periodic stock inventories and prepares material requisitions for replacement items as needed.
• Operates Government or Wolf Creek-owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
• Performs various lower classified duties such as file maintenance, workspace cleanup.
• Adheres to established safety, personnel policies, and standard operating procedures.
• Able to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
• S. Citizenship.
• Able to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
• Valid state driver’s license.

Job Requirements

• Mandatory: High school graduate or equivalent GED.
• Three (3) years of experience maintaining and repairing industrial machinery.
• Possess a valid Level I Thermography Analysis Certification.
• Familiarity with basic mathematical functions.
• Completion of industry certification program.
• Good working knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
• Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
• S. Citizenship.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
• Valid state driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
