About the role
As a fully competent Machine Technician II, the Machine Technician II will operate blow-mold, grinders, trimmer machines and conveyor systems. The role is responsible for troubleshooting process problems and performing minor maintenance to ensure continued operation of the production line. The Machine Technician II is also responsible for following the company’s Good Manufacturing Practices.
Responsibilities
- Operate blow-mold, grinders, trimmer machines and conveyor systems
- Troubleshoot process problems and perform minor maintenance
- Follow company Good Manufacturing Practices
- Demonstrate mastery of entry-level Machine Operator skills and teach Level-1 Machine Operator skills
- Adhere to quality control and blow mold process procedures
- Troubleshoot and resolve process issues using mechanical abilities
- Perform preventive maintenance procedures
- Maintain critical processing outputs such as adjusting parisons, tail adjustments, regrind levels, weights controls and other operator required adjustments
- Run two lines consistently
- Repair or replace pneumatic and hydraulic lines
- Assist with preventive maintenance, mold, neck and blow pin and other mechanical changes
- Troubleshoot and resolve process problems
- Operate on multiple platforms and cross-functionally
- Train entry-level Machine Operators and shadow Machine Operators (site-specific)
- Efficiently change colors without excessive product loss
- Receive instructions on specific job tasks from Lead Operator or Supervisor
- Provide assistance on unusual problems and review work for application of sound professional judgment
- Perform reasonable mandatory overtime as required by business needs
Qualifications
- Intermediate mathematical skills
- Intermediate computer experience
- Three plus years’ equivalent machine operator experience
Education
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Training
- Completion of Altium Machine Technician Level II training
Physical Demands
- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- The employee frequently is required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Work Environment
- The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts in a production environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
- Temperatures inside the plant can fluctuate between hot and cold according to seasonal changes
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production department and other designated areas
