Machine Shop Operator

About the role

The Machine Shop Operator at DuPont's Newark, DE site is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools, both CNC and manual grinders and lathes. Duties include reading prints, using precision gauges, managing multiple projects, and leading problem-solving sessions.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates manual and CNC equipment
• Uses precision gauges
• Manages multiple projects at one time
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions
• Adjusts machine controls or control media as required
• Learns and leads projects to improve productivity within the shop
• Trains teammates
• Participates in problem-solving sessions to minimize repeat errors

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Licensed Machinist with 2-3 years of experience or 5+ years of machine shop experience
• Proficient in setup and operation of CNC lathes and mills with Fanuc style controllers
• Proficient in shop math, including geometry and conversions
• Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and understand tolerance
• Excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills, including equipment
• Dependable and willing to work overtime, including evenings and weekends

Qualifications

• Passes job-related assessments
• Willing and able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment
• Ability to work legally in the United States
