About the role
The CNC Machine Operator supports Cooper Steel's goals, values, and philosophy by exhibiting behaviors such as excellence, quality service, commitment, and accountability. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company, maintaining Cooper Steel’s core priorities: Safety, Quality, Production Plans.
- Machining by analyzing work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, and machining parameters.
- Able to enter instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math.
- Must have knowledge of and able to set up tools and attachments.
- Lifts stock into position and verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to required tolerances.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, punching, and cutting operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains stability among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Understand units of measure, general mathematical equations.
- Inspects tools and equipment daily before use and maintains in good working order.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a similar role is preferred

- Position performs work mostly in the Shop setting which includes a variety of working conditions
- Adverse weather conditions such as heat, humidity, cold, precipitation, etc.

Schedule
This shift will work Friday-Sunday 5:30 AM - 5:30 PM. There will be a $2 extra shift premium for this weekend position.
