About the Role
The employee is responsible for their own work and must be able to work with other employees to complete the job. This position reports to the Production Supervisor. The employee has a direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, TME (total manufacturing expenses), and customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions
- Ability to perform the functions of the job while adhering to the Safety Absolutes
- Operate a hand-held grinder to finish small part components
- Load machine programs, as needed, specific to product orders
- Process material in accordance with shop drawings through the use of designated machines
- Troubleshoot causes of operating errors and determine possible resolutions
- Maintain material traceability
- Seek opportunities for improvements within the manufacturing department
- Perform tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime
- Determine machine maintenance needs and perform light maintenance, as needed
- Manage time to efficiently produce quality products within designated work hours
- Communicate information and provide feedback, in person, with co-workers, Shift Lead, Shift Supervisor & or Production/Operations Manager
- Perform lean, 5S, and/or general housekeeping
- Other duties as required and/or assigned
Requirements
- Must have an acceptable attendance and prior employment record
- Three (3) to five (5) years' experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong hands-on working knowledge operating machines
- Ability to read and understand blueprints/shop drawings
- The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
- Must be able to read a tape measure to within 1/32”
- Ability to physically lift, push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
- Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal skills, including the ability to adapt and professionally communicate with a variety of people
- Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
- Must be a person of passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Five (5) + years of previous experience operating machines in heavy/fast paced manufacturing environment (For example: Drill, Lathe Press, Saw, Stretcher, Tapering)
- Exhibits strong mechanical knowledge
- The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
