Machine Operator (Slitter/Decoiler) - Evening Shift

About the role

The Machine Operator 8 position is an individual contributor. This person must be a highly driven individual that will polish, grind, and process material in accordance with shop drawings through the use of designated machines including the Press Brake, Slitter Decoiler, and, if applicable, material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a hand-held grinder to finish small part components
  • Load machine programs, as needed, specific to product orders
  • Process material in accordance with shop drawings through the use of designated machines
  • Troubleshoot causes of operating errors and determine possible resolutions
  • Maintain material traceability
  • Seek opportunities for improvements within the manufacturing department
  • Perform tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime
  • Determine machine maintenance needs and perform light maintenance, as needed
  • Communicate information and provide feedback, in person, with co-workers, Shift Lead, Shift Supervisor &/or Production/Operations Manager
  • Perform lean, 5S, and/or general housekeeping
  • Accountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided and if applicable, based on location, the maintenance of these tools and equipment
  • Set up, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty
  • Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery for specific parts
  • Pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • Read and understand blue prints/shop drawings
  • Recognize and solve practical problems or issues
  • Program and re-set the brake press, trouble shoot operating malfunctions, and be well versed in operator’s maintenance of the equipment
  • Work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
  • Meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment
  • Physically lift, push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
  • Adapt and professionally communicate with a variety of people
  • Have a high awareness for safety at all times
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required in the production facility
  • Maintain a safe and productive working environment

Requirements

  • Must have an acceptable attendance and prior employment record
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience working in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to operate forklifts and acquire forklift certification
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes and acquire overhead crane certification
  • Strong hands-on working knowledge operating machines
  • The ability to read and understand blue prints/shop drawings
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to read a tape measure to within 1/32"
  • The ability to calculate simple mathematics, including fractions and fraction to decimal conversions
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
  • The ability to program and re-set the brake press, trouble shoot operating malfunctions, and be well versed in operator’s maintenance of the equipment
  • The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
  • The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment
  • Must be able to physically lift, push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Six (6) + years of previous experience operating machines in heavy/fast paced manufacturing environment (For example: Burner, Cable Swedge, Cincinatti, Drill, Ficep, Lathe Press, Press Brake, Saw, Slitter/Decoiler, Straightener, Stretcher, Tapering, Truss Rod, and material handling equipment)
  • Exhibits strong mechanical knowledge
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner

Pay

Starting Wage $25.54/hr + $1.50/hr shift differential

2nd Shift (4:00 pm - 2:30 am; M-T)
