About the role

A Manual Machine Operator is responsible for machining products to specifications while adhering to safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform appropriate setup for parts to be run and verify the setup.
  • Assure the accuracy of the first good, machined part to meet specifications documented on the SOR and Load Card.
  • Ensure the setup meets or exceeds all safety requirements and document the checkout procedure.
  • Identify different wood species.
  • Inspect parts for compliance to tolerances, quantities, etc., per Shop Order Release (SOR) or guidelines.
  • Document necessary information on time sheet, SOR, and Plant Monitoring and Control (PM & C).
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized workspace and equipment.
  • Perform proper preventive maintenance on equipment as required.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Identify nonconformities and follow nonconforming product procedures, including awareness of disposition authority.
  • Implement process improvements.
  • Support the Vision and Guiding Principles and other policies of the company.
  • Follow and support the Quality system and Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Perform job rotation as directed.

    • Skilled in the use of air-driven hand tools.
    • Capable of setting up machines to specifications.
    • Understands and follows proper lockout procedures.
    • Able to perform preventive maintenance on machines, tools, and equipment.
    • Able to set up and maintain forms as appropriate.
    • Able to use required gauges and measuring devices.
    • Able to use load-moving devices.
    • Able to identify nonconformities.

Qualifications

  • Able to write legibly and read/comprehend required documents.
  • Able to perform required math.
  • Minimum of 4 weeks of on-the-job training.
