Machine Operator Night Shift

About the role

Cornerstone Building Brands is a leading manufacturer of exterior building products. This position is full-time and operates on a night shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Understands and follows safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment
• Ability to set-up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts
• Ability to operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment
• Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting, with an emphasis on safety and quality
• Performs routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation
• Marks part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts. Attaches identification tags as required for customer to have the ability locate correct parts
• Interprets blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area
• Provides cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste
• Utilizes scanning equipment
• Inspects work visually for defects according to Quality Systems
• Reads a tape measure, writes, and follows posted schedules
• Team player and keeps safety first
• May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader
• Willing/able to work overtime

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• A minimum of one year of related work experience in manufacturing or comparable work environment
• A minimum of one year operating manufacturing machinery and/or equipment
• Good Communication Skills
• Basic Computer Skills
• Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment and nail guns
• Able to use of measuring gauges
• Able to read a tape measure
• Forklift experience a plus / Must be trainable on forklift
• Crane experience a plus / Must be trainable on crane
• Able to work flexible hours including weekends when needed
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist

This is a position with the potential for overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.
