About the role
This position independently sets up, operates, and troubleshoots one machine or equipment (Shear, PNL, Turret, Brake Press, Robotic Cell, Cut-to-Length, Roll Forming/Seaming, Press Lock).
Responsibilities
- Set up, thread material through, and operate one machine (Shear, PNL, Turret, Brake Press, Robotic Cell, Cut-to-Length, Roll Forming/Seaming, Press Lock, Welder/Paint Booth) independently.
- Follow daily manufacturing work orders, noting material specifics and any required annotations.
- Assist with operating other machinery under close supervision.
- Package products at the end of the line as needed; band and palletize metal coils/sheets, and place tags/labels on finished products.
- Perform quality checks to verify lengths, widths, and weights using proper tools.
- Ensure production goals are met while complying with all safety requirements.
- Mount and set up slitter knives, spacers, and guide discs for specified coil widths, including adjusting clearances and gapping (roll-former only).
- Adjust machinery based on observation and monitoring equipment feedback; perform quality control methods.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and daily equipment inspections.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Highly motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Able to safely operate a sit-down forklift; training provided if necessary. All production employees must complete CCM’s forklift certification program regardless of prior experience.
- Demonstrates safe working practices and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow CCM’s policies, procedures, and processes.
- Good communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Basic computer, mathematics, and problem-solving skills; ability to use a calculator.
- Ability to use measuring devices (gauges, tapes, rulers).
- Team player able to follow instructions from management and peers.
- Ability to learn and operate new equipment.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of six (6) months of experience.
Working Conditions
Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to ambient/outside temperatures, dust, mechanical parts, and pinch points. Increased noise levels are common.
- Hours: 40 hours per week.
- Shift: 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
- Flexible to overtime and weekend hours as required.
