Machine Operator / Manufacturing Operator
About the role
The Manufacturing Operator performs all functions relating to the production of Metered Dosage Inhaler (MDI) products, adhering to established Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), customer requirements, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Responsibilities
- Dispensing raw material and primary packing materials as per work order.
- Ensure the proper planning and execution of batches.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of production area and machinery during batch to batch and product to product changeover.
- Monitor and record production materials and lines daily.
- Conduct process checks and record in batch manufacturing records.
- Operate equipment and perform necessary maintenance to maintain quality standards.
- Safeguard equipment and coordinate with engineering for preventive maintenance and calibration.
- Manufacture and fill products as per Batch Manufacturing Records and SOP.
- Manage inventory of machine parts, tools, and accessories.
- Collaborate with other departments like packaging, engineering, QA, and QC for better planning and execution.
- Sample as per schedule and coordinate with QA and QC.
- Ensure status labels are checked at all stages of manufacturing and filling.
- Identify and assist in corrective actions.
- Calibrate and verify instruments, equipment, and weighing balances as per schedule.
- Clear the line during batch to batch and product to product changeover.
- Document and enter related manufacturing and filling operations and activities.
- Wear appropriate PPE as stated in the SOP before entering processing areas.
- Execute procedures to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An accredited college certificate or university degree is preferred.
- At least one (1) year of manufacturing experience with pharmaceutical or aerosol products is required.
- Proficiency in the English language is essential for understanding work instructions and documenting results.
- Knowledge of fundamental cGMP and regulatory requirements in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
- A basic understanding of mechanical machinery and operating principles of control systems is beneficial.
- The ability to follow both verbal and written instructions is crucial.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams is expected.
- A strong knowledge of Health & Safety procedures, including OSHA, is necessary.
- Strong mathematical and organizational skills are required.
Physical Requirements
- This position requires the ability to do heavy lifting/bending frequently.
- Exert an amount of force continuously and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force rarely.
- Wear appropriate PPE, including respiratory devices such as APRs and SARs.
