About the role
This position is responsible for general production work in a fast-paced, state-of-the-art fresh cut produce facility, including cutting, packing, and assembling many types of fresh produce.
Responsibilities
- Follow safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Adhere to all rules of safety and regulatory compliance including USDA, QTV, FDA, OSHA, and SQF.
- Ensure quality standards are being met throughout the entire process.
- Cut fresh produce by hand using knives or other hand tools.
- Pack and assemble fresh cut produce.
- Walk, stand, balance, push, pull, reach, and lift up to 25 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Move and grasp items with both hands; hear and see well.
- Work in a cold environment with temperatures that range from 35 to 38 degrees.
- Follow uniform policies related to working in a food production facility.
- Wear steel/composite/aluminum toe, slip-resistant safety shoes/boots.
- Work around cleaning chemicals such as chlorine and sanitizer.
- Work in an environment with ammonia.
- Operate and troubleshoot equipment with machine interfaces responsible for creating recipes.
- Navigate operational features of machinery and troubleshoot to determine root causes of equipment stoppages.
- Monitor machinery operation to identify concerns, make corrections, or report complex problems.
- Ensure machines are in optimal working condition to maintain productivity and quality standards.
- Perform basic troubleshooting with machinery.
- Inspect working condition of equipment, including quality of seals on bags and cups, and blade sharpness.
- Conduct Food Safety Quality Inspection of Raw Materials.
- Work at a fast pace while maintaining safety awareness, including in the warehouse.
- Communicate effectively with different departments to deliver expected customer service levels.
- Be cross-trained on various areas of the production floor.
- Plan production runs to reduce changeovers and manage time effectively.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least 6 months of food processing experience.
- At least 6 months of experience with large-scale food preparation equipment and techniques.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include holidays and weekends.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Read and write basic English.
- Strong mindset and uphold standards of machine safety and operational procedures.
- Complete inspections before and after equipment usage.
- Technology proficiencies to learn how to operate equipment with machine interfaces.
- Leadership skills and ability to work well with a team.
