Machine Operator I

Scope

The CNC Machinist will be responsible for production of machined components on various machining centers. The role demands a high level of expertise in operating turning, vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as multi-spindle lathes.

Qualifications Required

• A minimum of 4 years’ experience (Journeyman level) with CNC multi-axis Swiss turning machines; Star experience a plus
• Effectively program, set up and operate vertical and horizontal machining centers (3-4 axes)
• Effectively determine tooling, set up, program, and operate Swiss Style/Star lathes unassisted and unsupervised
• Capable of using the appropriate measuring tools and equipment
• Capable of choosing the appropriate cutting tools
• Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and work instructions
• Ability and willingness to train other operators

Bonus

• Gibbs Cam programming
• CAD experience (Solidworks, AutoCAD)
• PLC Knowledge
• Exposure to or working experience in continuous improvement or lean methodologies

Education & Other Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent; trade school a plus
• Technical College a plus
