About the role
The Extrusion Operator plays a pivotal role in the production of high-quality thermoplastic and PVC tubing, overseeing the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of extrusion equipment. This role demands a detail-oriented approach, ensuring strict compliance with operational standards and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, adhering to established housekeeping standards.
- Follow detailed written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
- Set up extrusion machinery and auxiliary equipment efficiently and safely.
- Utilize small hand tools for equipment adjustments and maintenance.
- Maintain precise production records and logs.
- Monitor material inventories, ensuring accurate and continuous stock levels.
- Oversee product startup, ensure correct sizing, and maintain consistent quality throughout production.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and perform housekeeping duties regularly.
- Comply with all written operational procedures and safety protocols.
- Assist in other departments as needed or directed by leadership.
Requirements
- Standing/Walking: Frequent walking and standing throughout the extrusion area; occasional standing while performing packaging duties.
- Pushing/Pulling: Push extrusion screws, maneuver barrels of plastic, and adjust equipment as needed.
- Lifting: Capable of lifting materials weighing up to 50 lbs. and equipment weighing up to 80 lbs., raising them to a height of up to 4 feet.
Qualifications
- Documentation: Ability to write clear and concise instructions, communicate status reports, record data, and complete required logs and reports.
- Reading & Interpretation: Proficient in reading and understanding operational instructions, gauges, and measurement tools.
- Mathematical Skills: Competent in basic arithmetic operations, including working with fractions and decimals.
- Climbing: Able to climb ladders up to 10 feet as needed for certain tasks.
- Manual Dexterity: Skilled in disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling machinery; capable of handling mechanical tasks such as stringing up products and fixing equipment jams.
- Visual Acuity: Capable of observing hopper levels from up to 40 feet, reading precision measurements, and distinguishing colors and shades accurately.

Benefits
We offer a starting wage of $24.75/hour, with an additional $1.00/hour for 2nd shift & $0.75/hour for working the 3rd shift. Plus, a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, Pension plan, and more!
