Responsibilities

  • Plans machining process by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
  • Programs mills and lathes, including zero and reference points; setting tool offsets, tool compensation, and calculating speed and feeds, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Uses overhead hoists and fork truck for material movement.
  • Provides suggested preventative measures to ensure inherent and robust machine capability.
  • Makes recommendations in regard to process improvements as well as new technology.
  • Trains personnel as required.
  • Maintains quality and safety standards, keeps work history records, maintains equipment and supplies, complies with all 6S standards.
  • Supports one weekend a month and is available to support call-ins.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent.
  • Preferred 3-10 years of related experience and/or training in CNC Machining.
  • Understanding of work holding, collets, and tooling.
  • Ability to read engineering prints and understanding of GD&T.
  • Machining of various materials such as steel, stainless, tool steel, and plastic.
  • Conversational programming and understanding of G & M code.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Critical thinking, logic, and reasoning to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • 6S Lean initiative work environment.
