Machine Operator (Channel Welder)

About the Role

Temporary position supporting production operations by supplying or holding materials or tools, cleaning work areas and equipment, operating machinery, inspecting products, and handling materials.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery used in the production process, or assist machine operators (2%)
• Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards (10%)
• Observe equipment operations to detect malfunctions and notify operators (2%)
• Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using hoists (15%)
• Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete (5%)
• Mark or tag identification on parts (2%)
• Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances (50%)
• Perform duties of lesser skill, such as supplying or holding materials or tools, and cleaning work areas and equipment (2%)
• Clean and lubricate equipment (2%)
• Record information such as the number of products inspected, and dates and times of product production (5%)
• Complete other assigned tasks at the direction of supervision (5%)

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certificate and/or industrial experience
• Mechanical ability
• Ability to read various dimensional measuring instruments
• Knowledge of production and processing, including raw materials, production processes, and quality control

• Forklifts
• Hand tools: hammers (claw hammers), screwdrivers (Phillips head, straight), tape measures, variety of hand tools
• Hoists: power hoists

Work Environment

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
