Shift: 12-hour C Shift

About the role

The Machine Operator will operate blow-mold/PET/injection molding machines, grinders, trimmer machines, and conveyor systems. This role is responsible for troubleshooting process problems and performing minor maintenance to ensure continued operation of the production line, while following the company's Good Manufacturing Practices.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates safe work practices by wearing correct PPE and following safety policies.
  • Demonstrates punctuality and adheres to work schedule.
  • Demonstrates a One Team Cross Functional attitude by working well and effectively with others.
  • Embraces and participates in continuous improvement processes to drive change within the plant.
  • Adheres to company General Manufacturing Policies.
  • Ensures compliance with corporate and plant safety standards and with applicable laws and regulations issued by regulatory agencies.
  • Keeps the work area clutter free, clean, and organized.
  • Performs preventive maintenance, mold, neck and blow pin, and other mechanical changes.
  • Operates blow-mold/PET/injection molding machines (including wheels, reciprocating or shuttle machines) to ensure production of quality bottles.
  • Adheres to quality control and to blow mold process procedure.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves process problems.
  • Performs bottle inspections, such as drop tests for designated lines.
  • Inspects the quality of bottles during production, packaging, and labeling.
  • Performs audits, weights, and quality checks.
  • Makes adjustments to meet product specifications.
  • Troubleshoots and performs minor repair on blow-mold and support equipment.
  • Immediately escalates all bottle abnormalities, defects, and quality issues when found.
  • Monitors supply levels of packaging materials and replenishes as needed.
  • Picks up dropped bottles, places them into bins, and if needed, into the grinder.
  • Ensures correct labeling, bottle description, and packaging of product in accordance with specific customer requirements.
  • Moves finished goods to designated area.
  • Prepares and documents daily production reports, including rejects, regrinds, line efficiencies, and other metrics.
  • Prepares maintenance request forms and documents equipment repairs.
  • Receives instructions on specific job tasks from Lead Operator or Supervisor; assistance is provided on unusual problems, and work is reviewed for sound professional judgment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • Duties may vary by plant based on equipment and plant design.
  • Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.

Requirements

  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Basic computer experience.
  • Blow mold experience.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Completion of Altium Production/Machine Operator training within 90 days of hire date.

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to grasp, handle, or feel, and reach out, over, and below with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Frequently required to lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts in a production environment.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Temperatures inside the plant can fluctuate between hot and cold according to seasonal changes.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production department and other designated areas.
