Role Responsibilities
- Operate machines efficiently to produce and box envelopes accurately.
- Examine job orders, read and interpret specifications, and review sample and shipping instructions.
- Check orders throughout the production process to ensure accuracy of labeling, printing, and packaging.
- Inspect product quality according to guidelines and complete quality checks for envelope size, shape, window, gum seal, side seam, and color print.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area and perform machine wash-up and other general cleaning duties, including washing ink pans, pumps, and glue areas.
- Accurately complete paperwork to record labor, time, quality, maintenance, and envelopes produced.
- Maintain an accurate count of envelopes into cartons and on skids.
- Pack envelopes uniformly and neatly into completed cartons while keeping up with machine speeds and placing on skids.
- Work closely with the machine adjuster regarding machine or product issues.
- Perform any additional duties or jobs as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 - 3 years of Machine Operator experience or solid experience within a similar position.
- Possess a mechanical aptitude, good analytical skills, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to read a ruler and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Be able to demonstrate production safety standards.
- Take pride and ownership in their job, maintain good attendance, and pay close attention to quality.
- Have initiative to take on additional responsibilities.
- Enjoy hands-on work.
- Have effective communication skills.
- Enjoy working in a team environment and show the ability to work independently.
- Preferred but not required: Experience in the envelope industry.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for the approximate duration of the scheduled shift (minus paid lunch and breaks).
- Occasionally walk, lift up to 50 lbs., perform repetitive grasping, twist frequently, lift above shoulder height, bend occasionally, reach, crouch, squat, kneel, or stoop.
- Occasionally pull or push items.
- Sensory requirements include tactile/touch with hands and digits, near and far visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
