About the role

Machine Operator will perform various tasks to set up, operate, process, and monitor production. Responsibilities include inspecting parts to specifications, adjusting or changing tools as necessary to maintain quality, resolving minor component and quality issues, and maintaining expected production results. The role requires identifying differences in each product, verifying quality standards, and ensuring process integrity per set-up sheets and Control Plans.

Schedule

Monday–Thursday, 5:00 pm – 3:45 am (Second Shift)

Responsibilities

  • Operate machines to ensure continuous production at a constant rate of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials throughout the entire shift.
  • Perform basic adjustments to ensure safe and efficient production of products.
  • Conduct in-process inspections of parts throughout the manufacturing run to meet visual standards of acceptance.
  • Produce parts in the proper quantity as identified by the production schedule.
  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup.
  • Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion.
  • Perform operational procedures to ensure the quality of the product packaged.
  • Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements.
  • Report material utilization in the production report and ensure daily production report data is accurate and up to date.
  • Recognize defective materials for color, surface blemishes, finish, and dimensions.
  • Identify the proper tooling required for pending production.
  • Inspect the condition of molds and component parts for damage and wear.
  • Inspect machines, conveyors, and tools in the department and notify Lead if maintenance repair or replacement tools are needed.
  • Keep work cell, department, and fire-doors clear of trash and other obstructions that could hinder department performance or safety.
  • Maintain condition of work area to meet 5-S standards.
  • Communicate with team members and support teams.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and offer support to Leads, Supervisors, and Manager.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist whenever and in whatever capacity needed to ensure continuous production.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.
  • Prior experience operating manufacturing, packaging, and process control equipment required.
  • Thermoform, Injection Mold, Douglas, ARPAC, ZED, or related machine operator experience preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
