Machine Operator

Specific Duties

• Responsible for Microbiology testing in peptone manufacturing, raw material products, and Final DCM testing as required.
• Perform testing of various microorganisms in a laboratory with strict adherence to safety policies associated with this manner of testing.
• Work in a clean room environment and meet validation requirements associated with donning and doffing clean room garments.
• Various duties and abilities include:
• Demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively with large multifunctional teams.
• Prepare various media from scratch and test prepared media for Microbiology.
• Knowledge of Microbiology and Biochemistry as it relates to bacteria, yeast, and fungi.
• Basic knowledge of Microbiology as it applies to a lab setting.
• Good problem-solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of professional experience with the following:
• Capable of creating and preparing microbiological media in a GLP/GMP environment.
• Trained in working with bacterial cultures.
• Skilled in the use of aseptic technique.
• Capable of evaluating test results and drawing conclusions.
• Efficient use of scales, balances, and pH meters.
• Experience in preparation of microbiological media.

Education and Experience

• Education and academic experience may be substituted for up to 1-2 years of professional experience.
• B.S. in Microbiology or a related Life Science is preferred but not required.
• The Associate is responsible for applying basic scientific principles to routine laboratory work and gaining experience in the application and interpretation of department procedures.
• Typically involved in routine testing of products and supplier materials and/or stability testing.
• Implements tasks and participates on teams.
• Ensures documentation compliance and processes documentation.
