Specific Duties
- Responsible for Microbiology testing in peptone manufacturing, raw material products, and Final DCM testing as required.
- Perform testing of various microorganisms in a laboratory with strict adherence to safety policies associated with this manner of testing.
- Work in a clean room environment and meet validation requirements associated with donning and doffing clean room garments.
- Various duties and abilities include:
- Demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively with large multifunctional teams.
- Prepare various media from scratch and test prepared media for Microbiology.
- Knowledge of Microbiology and Biochemistry as it relates to bacteria, yeast, and fungi.
- Basic knowledge of Microbiology as it applies to a lab setting.
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of professional experience with the following:
- Capable of creating and preparing microbiological media in a GLP/GMP environment.
- Trained in working with bacterial cultures.
- Skilled in the use of aseptic technique.
- Capable of evaluating test results and drawing conclusions.
- Efficient use of scales, balances, and pH meters.
- Experience in preparation of microbiological media.
Education and Experience
- Education and academic experience may be substituted for up to 1-2 years of professional experience.
- B.S. in Microbiology or a related Life Science is preferred but not required.
- The Associate is responsible for applying basic scientific principles to routine laboratory work and gaining experience in the application and interpretation of department procedures.
- Typically involved in routine testing of products and supplier materials and/or stability testing.
- Implements tasks and participates on teams.
- Ensures documentation compliance and processes documentation.
