Machine Operator

About the role

The purpose of this position is to program, set up, operate, adjust, and troubleshoot a Plasma Table in accordance with ASME code for pressure vessels and related components. Responsibilities include accurately reading blueprints, performing layout from blueprints, and preparing components for vessel test, fit, and final assembly.

Responsibilities

• Understand and follow all safety rules.
• Operate overhead cranes, scissor lifts, and ladders.
• Abide by 5S housekeeping procedures and Lean Manufacturing practices.
• Demonstrate competence in meeting safety, quality, and production standards.
• Locate and nest parts for the plasma cutter.
• Program, set up, and operate the plasma cutter.
• Identify correct cut start point(s) and cut plate accurately.
• Troubleshoot and adjust the plasma cutter as needed.
• Perform basic machine maintenance on the plasma table.
• Input material specifications into the Plasma control computer.
• Safely load and unload material in and out of the plasma table.
• Perform additional duties as directed by the Team Leader or Supervisor.

Requirements

• High school degree or GED equivalent preferred; technical training at an accredited school is a plus.
• Good reading, writing, and math skills.
• One to two years of machine operation experience, including CNC equipment such as CNC Tube Bender, CNC Drill, CNC Plasma Table, and CNC Plate Roller.
• Experience operating overhead cranes.
