Machine Operator

About the role

American Flexible Products (AFP) is a state-of-the-art manufacturing company specializing in the custom conversion of various flexible materials. We are AS9100-registered and ITAR-registered, ensuring high-quality and compliant products for aerospace, defense, medical, electronics, and other high-performance applications. We are also a Preferred Converter for 3M and Rogers Corporation, providing access to premium materials.

Responsibilities

• Set-up, operate, and monitor the machine process to assure quality production
• Maintain productivity goals by monitoring run speeds, set up times, and coordinating support departments
• Communicate with other departments for resolution of mechanical problems, reporting of defective material, coordination of job preparations, change overs, and daily shift information
• Accurately record production function and material usage in our ERP system at the time of completion and usage
• Comply with all safety rules including active participation in all safety trainings
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment
• Perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature and/or assist in other areas as needed

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Five years of machine operation in a manufacturing environment
• Three years in a production lead role in a manufacturing environment
• Team player who is self-motivated, a fast learner, and shows initiative in completing and understanding production needs
• Ability to work independently, make decisions and solve moderate level problems independently
• Proficiency with basic mathematics
• Mechanically inclined and production oriented
• Keen attention to detail
• Willing to put in extra hours whenever needed

General Skills

• Ability to communicate (read, write, and speak) fluently in English
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Effective communication with team members and leadership
• Great hand/eye coordination, and ability to occasionally lift to 50 lbs

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for a long period of time
• Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and a temperature-controlled environment
• Noise level in the work area is usually moderate
