Machine Operator (5:00am to 1:30pm) MBAF Foundry
About the role
Set up and operate one or two pieces of manufacturing machinery of moderate complexity in G&W Electric’s foundry.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate machinery using hand tools as necessary
- Select correct pattern for each order
- Prepare molds for drawing of patterns and repair damage to mold impressions in sand
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Contribute to team effort by training others in performance of machine operator tasks as needed
- Inspect all work for defects prior to passing it on to the next operation
- Document actions by completing production and quality forms
- Report production quantities and times for each work order
- Report worn pattern equipment to supervisors
Requirements
- Must be able to safely use small hand and power tools
- Must be able to read and interpret work instructions and effectively communicate with supervisor regarding manufacturing processes
- Must have ability to operate a variety of machinery
Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED, or combination of work experience and skill development required
- 6+ months experience working in a manufacturing environment desirable
Physical Demands
The work is classified as Medium – Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL) by the US Dept of Labor’s Dictionary of Occupational Titles.

- Lift up to 75 lbs on an occasional basis floor to waist with assistance
- Lift up to 40 lbs on a frequent basis floor to chest
- Carry up to 40 lbs on an occasional basis up to 25 feet
