About the Role

The Machine Operator plays a critical part in the production process by setting up, operating, and maintaining plastic molding equipment. You will ensure machines run efficiently, products meet quality standards, and all safety protocols are followed. Will be responsible for assigned production lines to ensure that product is produced in accordance with established quality and product standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate plastic molding machines according to established procedures.
  • Monitor machine performance during operation and adjust as needed to ensure optimal efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Identify and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
  • Check and maintain defined levels of all raw materials used in production on assigned machinery.
  • Keep all assigned machines and areas neat and clean of debris.
  • Evaluate and discuss the operation of assigned machinery with the Machine Operator from the previous shift.
  • Operate and adjust production line equipment, in accordance with established production standards.
  • Report any problems with machinery or production processes.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of raw materials and notify supervision when replenishment is needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on assigned machinery.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred (technical training a plus).
  • 1-2 years of related experience.
  • Experience in plastics or packaging industry a plus.
  • Working knowledge of computer operating systems.

Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Prior ERP Experience with Maintain X a plus.
  • Good communication skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, stooping, twisting, and climbing.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Work Environment

The work environment involves frequent exposure to high, precarious, and/or enclosed spaces with fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is usually high, requiring ear protection. PPE, including Fire Resistant Uniform, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes, is mandatory. Machine Operators must provide their own tools, with a list of minimum requirements provided upon offer.
