About the role
Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Short Block Operator on 2nd shift (typically 3:30pm to 12am) at our Lakeland, Florida foam manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for operating machinery used in the foam manufacturing process and operating a forklift to move foam buns throughout the warehouse. The Short Block Operator ensures production and quality standards are met for the department.
Responsibilities
- Perform length, thickness, and width quality checks with a tape measure.
- Maintain efficient operation of the chop saw, including cutting foam slabs to proper length.
- Identify and report conditions to supervisor or team lead that may affect the operation of the chop saw.
- Read and understand cutting programs.
- Work safely in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with the department supervisor and team lead.
- Operate a forklift and use a computer as part of daily duties.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree required.
- Basic computer experience required; SAP preferred.
- Forklift experience required.
Pay
$17.90 to $18.49 per hour.
Schedule
2nd shift, typically 3:30pm to 12am.
