Machine Learning Manager, Feed Relevance (Retrieval)

For our client, we are seeking a Machine Learning Manager to join the team of a leader in the Media space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a Media environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Define the technical vision and roadmap for the Feed Retrieval team
• Translate Feed Relevance goals into a focused team roadmap with clear prioritization
• Coach and develop team members to enhance their skills and impact
• Oversee design and optimization of retrieval systems for personalized feeds
• Establish strong measurement and experimentation practices to evaluate retrieval quality
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable retrieval systems
• Maintain high standards for system performance, reliability, and operational excellence

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience building and managing high-performing ML or recommender-systems teams
• Hands-on experience with large-scale production ML systems, especially recommender systems
• Strong understanding of candidate retrieval, embedding/indexing systems, and feed personalization
• Ability to develop and communicate a clear technical strategy across complex problem spaces
• Passion for creating scalable and responsible AI solutions that drive business value
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate complex topics effectively

Pay

$253,300 – $354,600 annually
