Machine Build Technician (Advanced Manufacturing Group)

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Responsible for performing machine build duties on new and existing production equipment and automation. This includes mechanical assembly, control system integration, testing and debugging utilizing engineering drawings and schematics.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Uses provided mechanical drawings to assemble mechanical structures, assemblies, components, and electro-mechanical components accurately.
  • Uses a wide variety of hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and shop equipment to fit, align, and secure mechanical components.
  • Verifies mechanical fits and tolerances, making necessary modifications (drilling, tapping, grinding & filing) to achieve proper function.
  • Uses provided electrical and pneumatic schematics to build machine control system panels.
  • Uses provided electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to assemble and integrate control system components.
  • Affords assistance with PLC programming, HMI development and motor drive configuration along with troubleshooting during equipment startups.
  • Connects temporary electrical and pneumatic supply lines for equipment startups.
  • Affords assistance with equipment startups to ensure proper operation and performance.
  • Utilizes components manuals and technical level test equipment to troubleshoot and identify faulty components during equipment startups.
  • Affords assistance with equipment installations, startups, and commissioning as needed.
  • Documents build processes, changes, and test results as needed.
  • Receives incoming project components and organizes them in an orderly manner for efficient assembly and to limit search times.
  • Provides technical direction and work activity instruction to other group members as needed.
  • Affords assistance with plant maintenance as needed.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
