  • Shift: Monday - Thursday, 6:30am-4pm

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

The Machine Build Electrician will provide leadership, project management and training related to physical asset build in the department. Coordinate, prioritize, and schedule project activities. Build new and rebuild existing machines to support Division and Portland metro needs and requirements. Assess new skills and techniques and incorporate into current job practices if applicable.

THE DETAILS

Primary Task

  • Build control systems, including design, wiring, and debugging
  • Read and maintain electrical schematics
  • Redline schematics to keep records current and reflect as-built conditions
  • Research and apply new technologies to improve equipment
  • Work with engineering teams to design and build manufacturing equipment
  • Apply new technology to improve safety, productivity, service, and profitability
  • Perform all tasks with a focus on safety
  • Follow NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and Oregon electrical standards
  • Maintain required state electrical licensure
  • Work on site as needed
  • Maintain clean work areas and current documentation, software, and parts lists

Secondary Task

  • Troubleshoot and maintain manufacturing equipment, including drives, PLCs, and RF generators
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain process control devices
  • Repair lighting and power outlets
  • Perform general electrical maintenance
  • Install data cabling for plant telephone and computer systems
  • Perform construction work, including installing conduit, wireways, and busways
  • Repair systems as needed
  • Guide contractors and temporary electricians on assigned tasks

Communication and Documentation

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to read blueprints and support electrical and electronic maintenance for equipment and facilities
  • Strong industrial controls troubleshooting and customer service skills
  • Commitment to learning, flexibility, customer focus, quality, and teamwork

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and an Oregon State Limited Journeyman Manufacturing Plant Electrician License
  • Factory provided training classes in automated manufacturing equipment a plus (i.e. PLC’s, Robotics, Lasers, AC/DC Drives and/or CNC’s)
  • Additional factory training classes in high tech. manufacturing equipment as required, fully trained on maintaining and repairing the electrical systems on Oregon Tool custom built manufacturing equipment
  • At least 10 years in Industrial Manufacturing Electrical field. Electrical and Electronic Control system trouble-shooting skills in variable frequency drives, PLC’s and/or related areas
  • Annual class certification to keep up with state mandated continual education requirements
  • Continual improvement of troubleshooting skills, knowledge, and experience with the manufacturing equipment in the plant is a must
  • Able to operate hand tools (power tools, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.)
  • Utilize test equipment (digital voltage meter, current meter, etc.)
  • Able to operate high lift equipment or forklift

Availability

  • Oregon Tool is a 24-hour production plant so must be available for emergency calls and coordination between graveyard and swing shifts
  • Work on off shifts may be required based on business needs
