ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical instructions.
- Assemble mechanical components, subassemblies, and complete machines using hand and power tools.
- Align and fit parts according to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
- Test assembled machines for proper functionality and troubleshoot issues.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and quality standards.
- Identify and eliminate waste in work processes (e.g., excess motion, inventory, waiting time) in alignment with Lean principles.
- Participate in 5S (Sort, set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) initiatives to maintain an organized and efficient work environment.
- Support continuous improvement activities by providing feedback and suggestions to improve workflows and reduce cycle time.
- Maintain accurate records of assembly work, inspections, and repairs.
- Communicate with engineering, quality, and other departments to resolve technical or process-related issues.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment as needed.
- Keep work area clean, safe, and organized at all times.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in mechanical assembly or a related field preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in mechanical or machine assembly in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and willingness to participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Ability to lift up to [50lbs] and stand for extended periods.
Safety Requirements
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and training protocols.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection).
- Participate in regular safety training and toolbox talks.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, near-misses, or injuries to supervisors.
- Operate machinery and tools only after receiving proper training and authorization.
- Use lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when performing maintenance or repair tasks.
- Maintain clean and unobstructed work areas to minimize tripping or mechanical hazards.
- Comply with OSHA and other regulatory safety standards applicable to the manufacturing environment.
