About the role
The Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative/clerical tasks based on training, education, and competency evaluations, under the direction/supervision of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Responsibilities include creating a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees; providing patient care tasks and procedures; and handling administrative duties. The role requires floating when needed, with mileage reimbursement offered.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient care tasks and procedures as delegated by clinical staff.
- Conduct administrative/clerical duties, including front and back office tasks.
- Assess situations objectively, consider alternatives, and assist in developing action plans.
- Follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices.
- Utilize resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible.
- Demonstrate proficiency in medical assisting skills and inter-departmental interactions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- One of the following certifications required on the first day of employment:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- Certified EMT (EMT-B)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
- Phlebotomy experience highly preferred.
