Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care by taking vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab, x-ray, referrals, and patient phone messages as directed by the provider and/or clinical supervisor.
  • Gathers and documents information about patient condition, including lab values, pain levels, patient education needs, nutritional status, and potential complications.
  • Contributes to the assessment/re-assessment of patients and monitors/document patient status.
  • Participates in the development of the plan of care, including implementation and evaluation of appropriate patient care interventions (may include medication administration, excluding narcotics).
  • Manages large call volume while maintaining excellent telephone etiquette and organizes workflow to meet patient needs in a timely manner.
  • May retrieve and transport medications.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of appropriate patient care interventions (Clinic Nurse).
  • Monitors for signs and symptoms related to abnormal lab values and deviations from baseline assessments; reports changes to the physician and initiates new orders as directed.
  • Promotes patient satisfaction and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Participates in charge management to ensure chart accuracy with each visit.
  • Reports suspected abuse and refers patient/family to appropriate health or social resources.
  • Performs venipuncture, EKG, waived testing, bone density, X-ray, and other procedures as assigned by the physician, manager, or clinical supervisor.
  • Performs sterilization of equipment after procedures.

Qualifications

Medical Assistant

  • Current nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification/registration; OR 6 months of clinic MA experience AND 6 months of customer service experience preferred.
  • CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written).

Clinic Nurse (LPN or RN)

  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Oklahoma or current multistate license from a Nurse Licensure Compact (NCLEX) member state.
  • BLS and/or ACLS as required by department.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written).
