About the role

The position is a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Day position at PeaceHealth. The salary range for this position is $26.64 - $35.96 for MA and $28.73 – $43.09 for LPN. The hiring rate is dependent on various factors including education, training, work experience, and terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment or anesthesia interview as applicable.
  • Takes and records patient history and vital signs as applicable.
  • Prepares exam and/or treatment rooms; selects, sets up, and maintains medical supplies and equipment for all examinations, procedures, and/or anesthesia interview as applicable.
  • Collaborates with a variety of personnel and departments to ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Gives injections, applies splints and dressings, and facilitates simple wound management under provider orders.
  • Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
  • Maintains patient files, records, and other information including entry of data into electronic medical record.
  • Provides phone screening of patients to appropriate clinical staff and/or physician.
  • May transport specimens.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant/Medical Office Assistant program, MA Apprenticeship program, or accredited State Board of Nursing LPN program.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred; clinical experience as an LPN or medical office experience as an MA.
  • Credentials: Upon Hire, Washington State MA certification (MA-C) or LPN licensure. Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at date of hire. If an MA, National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.

Skills

  • Basic computer skills required including familiarity with MS Office applications.
  • Cooperative working and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of patients, families, and staff.
  • Effective prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple clinical tasks at one time.
  • Well organized, detail oriented, flexible, and able to function independently.

Working Conditions

  • Lifting: Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
  • Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA).
  • Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
  • Sitting: Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
  • Lifting (non-patient): up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
  • Environmental Conditions: Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Mental/Visual: Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
