About the Role

Saint Alphonsus Medical Group is hiring two Medical Assistants for a new family medicine clinic located inside the Ontario Medical Center. This position will work with a Physician and Nurse Practitioner new to Saint Alphonsus but familiar to the Ontario community. The clinic provides quality and convenient healthcare services, including general wellness, urgent care, and chronic disease diagnosis and management for all ages, with a primary focus on adult and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform primary Medical Assistant duties
  • Administer immunizations and assist with minor procedures
  • Conduct phlebotomy, point-of-care (POC) testing, urinalysis (UAs), and ear lavages
  • Complete tasks and orders in the task inbox

An ideal candidate demonstrates strong customer service, follow-through, critical thinking, effective communication, and a commitment to excellent patient care in a team environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required at hire)
  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following approved agencies:
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
    • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
    • National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
    • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
    • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
    • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
    • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from AHA, ARC, or Military Training Network (required at hire)

For New Graduates:

  • MA certificate of completion from an accredited program or school
  • Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months of MA experience (in lieu of externship hours, even with MA certification)

For Experienced Medical Assistants:

  • 1 year of MA experience OR current MA certification OR obtain/renew certification within 90 days of hire from approved agencies

Note: EMT and CNA certifications do not count toward MA certification.

Schedule

40 hours per week, with options for either 4 × 10-hour shifts or 5 × 8-hour shifts. Hours will be approximately 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
