- Appropriately coordinates testing required to complete the transplant evaluation work-up at the direction of the Post-Transplant RN Coordinator
- Appropriately coordinates testing requirements in the post-transplant phase of care at the direction of the Post-Transplant RN Coordinator
- Takes the opportunity with every contact to educate patients and caregivers about their transplant medications, signs and symptoms of infection
- In collaboration with Transplant RN Coordinators, may provide pre and post-transplant teaching to the patient and their caregivers and documents the findings in the medical record
- Works collaboratively with the team, assisting colleagues when necessary to ensure the program functions at the most efficient level
- Enters VAD equipment serial numbers in the appropriate database system at the time of implantation and throughout the care continuum, as indicated
- Participates in the Transplant Program quality improvement process and related projects and working groups, as indicated
Requirements
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent education and/or experience
- Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
About the Role
Heart Transplant Specialists are specialized Medical Assistants, who practice both in the outpatient care setting working alongside Post and Pre Transplant Nurse Coordinators to support patients and their needs throughout their transplant journey. This includes all phases of transplant care, from referral to the post-transplant phase to ensuring continuity of care across the Transplant continuum.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum: $28.27 hourly
Pay Range Maximum: $40.44 hourly
Other Compensation: Benefits available upon hire
Shift: First Shift (United States of America)
