About the Role

This is a flexible, part-time position working 20 hours per week. The Medical Assistant will float to primary care and specialty clinics throughout the Treasure Valley, from Boise to Ontario, OR, providing staffing assistance where needed. This role offers variety and an opportunity to learn about different service areas and specialties within the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment to promote a positive patient care experience with compassion and kindness.
  • Perform duties within the Medical Assistant scope of practice based on clinic needs.
  • Support and work under the supervision of Physicians and/or Advanced Practice Providers, with clinical oversight provided by the RN Supervisor, Lead Nurse, and/or SAMG Nursing Administration.
  • Support efficient clinic flow alongside Providers, Clinical Support, and Front Office staff, communicating accurately and positively with team members.

Schedule

  • Part-time position totaling 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling options including 12, 10, or 8-hour shifts.
  • Primarily Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend and holiday coverage as needed.
  • Work schedules vary based on clinic staffing needs, typically between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
  • Qualifies for additional pay differentials.

Orientation and training will include at least two or three 8-hour days per week in the first two weeks, plus self-paced e-learning. Training covers Medical Group Orientation, EPIC Training, Clinical Regulatory Training, POC test training, and immunization training.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following approved agencies:
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
    • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
    • National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
    • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
    • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
    • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
    • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
  • For New Graduates:
    • MA certificate of completion from an accredited program or school.
    • Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months of MA experience in lieu of externship hours, even with MA certification.
  • For Experienced Medical Assistants:
    • 1 year of MA experience OR current MA certification OR obtain/renew certification within 90 days of hire from approved agencies.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA, ARC, or Military Training Network) required at hire.
  • EMT and CNA certifications do not count toward MA certification.
