About the role

This Medical Assistant position will support a full-time heart care provider at the Heart Care Institute in Boise. The role involves coordinating and partnering with the clinical care team to support all aspects of patient care while patients are undergoing treatment.

Responsibilities

• Complete chart prep, assist patients with moving within the clinics, rooming, and taking vitals.
• Conduct medication reviews and set up for minor procedures.
• Manage computer-based tasks including work queue items, scheduling new patients, procedures, related appointments, and follow-up visits.
• Complete related paperwork.

An ideal candidate will have strong multitasking and communication skills, self-initiative, attention to detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer/technology skills, knowledge of orders, and experience with Epic are a plus. The role involves connecting with patients and developing relationships.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
• MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
  • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network is required at hire.

New Graduates

• MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school.
• Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months of MA experience in lieu of the externship hours, even with MA certification.

Medical Assistant with Experience

• 1 year of MA experience OR current MA certification OR obtain/renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.

Note: EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.

Schedule

• 40 hours/week, 4 - 10 hour days, Monday - Friday.
• Around the hours of 7:30am - 6:00pm. Clinic start and end time can vary based on provider's schedule.
• This position will NOT work weekends or major holidays.
