M&S Engineer

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer to support a small, highly empowered team at our Dayton, OH location where every team member is directly responsible for the success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop models, algorithms, and associated simulation software for aerospace systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Perform trade-space analysis to assess and verify system characteristics and capabilities.
  • Document software and hardware characteristics and changes to existing and new simulation environments.
  • Design test architectures, plan and execute tests, collect and analyze data, and generate reports.
  • Integrate models into complex simulation architectures, including engagement-level simulations, theater-level simulations, and hardware-in-the-loop architectures.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in modeling and simulation software development frameworks.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Basic understanding of aerospace system functions and dynamics, including detailed subsystem models and flight dynamics models.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve hardware and software integration challenges.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with minimal guidance, often within rigid timelines.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with data suppliers, coworkers, and customers across disparate locations.
  • Outstanding skills in communicating complex technical issues and producing comprehensive written, oral, and digital products.
  • Strong analytic skills and ability to multitask across multiple projects (typically one primary and one or two ancillary projects).
  • Familiarity with contractor and government roles in applying intelligence analysis to aerospace system development and acquisition.
  • Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Dayton, Ohio area.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in an engineering or physics discipline (required).
  • Master’s degree in an engineering or physics discipline (desired).
  • Professional training in modeling and simulation related to space, missile, or aircraft system performance/dynamics (desired).
  • Experience with an additional programming/software development language (C, C++, Python) (desired).
  • Familiarity with TMAP, AFSIM, ITASE, NGTS, or JSE (desired).
  • Familiarity with the Department of Defense (DoD) and the United States Intelligence Community (IC) (desired).
  • Experience developing mathematical models of aerospace vehicle dynamics, guidance navigation, and control components and algorithms (desired).
  • Understanding of system component integration and ability to model entire systems or individual components (e.g., sensors, GNC, propulsion, aerodynamics) to varying levels of detail (desired).
  • Current Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility (desired).
