Job Summary

About the Role

The role involves providing nursing care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse or advanced practice provider. Nursing care includes administering medications, assisting with treatments, and communicating directly with the registered nurse to adjust the care plan.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibits excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, providers, and co-workers; shows courtesy, compassion, and respect; conforms to critical service standards.
  • Provides therapeutic patient care in accordance with the plan established by the physician/advanced practice provider.
  • Transcribes physician/advanced practice provider orders and communicates changes in the plan of care to the registered nurse.
  • Administers specified medications accurately and follows the provider’s order within the scope of practice.
  • Executes treatments such as urinary catheterizations, intravenous catheter placements, and suctioning procedures.
  • Adheres to infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
  • Performs related patient care functions like taking vital signs, wound care, and educating patients about self-administered treatments.
  • Assists physicians/advanced practice providers or other medical staff personnel during examinations and treatments.
  • Documents patient care in Health Connect according to policy, procedures, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Supports patient communication and message management including emails, call center messages, and other back-office tasks.
  • Administers pulse oximetry, humidification therapy, spirometer, oxygen therapy via mask or nasal cannula, oral, nasal, and trach suctioning, and sputum induction.
  • Participates in staff meetings, in-service programs, and coordinates the discharge process.
  • Accepts verbal and telephone orders from the physician/advanced practice provider.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and required.

Requirements

  • Minimum twelve (12) months or greater LVN direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years.
  • Vocational Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • IV Certification and Blood Withdrawal Certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Vocational Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • IV Certification and Blood Withdrawal Certification preferred.
