About the role

UC San Diego Health is a Magnet designated organization, recognized for excellence in nursing care. The position involves performing a variety of patient care activities in support of clinic operations, including patient triage, procedure assistance, medication administration, and laboratory testing.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and assist in patient triage processing
  • Prepare and assist with patient procedures
  • Administer medications
  • Perform point-of-care testing
  • Collect and prepare laboratory tests
  • Provide patient education

Requirements

  • License as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) issued by the state of California
  • BLS certification at time of hire, with commitment to obtain BART within six months of hire
  • A minimum of two (2) years of LVN experience
  • Knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with allergy, immunology, and angioedema patient populations
  • Certification in Intravenous Therapy and Blood Withdrawal issued by the state of California (LVN IV/BW) within three months of hire
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and effective communication skills

Special Conditions

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs
  • Subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical

Pay

Annual Full Pay Range: $74,980 - $93,229 (prorated if appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $35.91 - $44.65
