Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an accomplished and visionary Lung Transplant Surgical Director to lead and expand our lung transplant service with the goal of achieving high-volume center status. This role blends clinical excellence, surgical leadership, and strategic program development to drive exceptional patient outcomes and support the continued growth of a high-performing transplant program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide surgical leadership for the lung transplant program
  • Perform lung transplant surgeries and related thoracic procedures
  • Develop and implement program strategies to enhance quality, outcomes, and volume
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., UNOS, CMS)
  • Mentor and supervise surgical staff, fellows, and residents
  • Participate in research initiatives, clinical trials, and academic publications
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership on strategic planning and program growth

Qualifications

  • Doctorate Degree in medicine with board certification in Thoracic Surgery
  • Fellowship training in cardiothoracic or thoracic transplant surgery preferred
  • Significant experience in lung transplantation with a strong surgical track record
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a transplant program or surgical department
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Texas

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a complex clinical environment
